Really, the best diaper for the money depends on your needs. Sometimes having several different diapers on hand gives you the best deal. Let me give some examples:
In the mornings whne I'm drinking my coffee and have taken my blood pressure medication which contains a diuretic the Abena X-Plus (whenther it be the plastic backed version or the Air-Plus version with the cloth like outer cover) is what I go with. These have MEGA absorbency so I am not changing every half hour. Saves me money.
When I am out and about again, the Abena X-Plus or even the Molicare Super Plus work for me well.
When I get up for the time between when I get up and get in the shower (maybe an hour or so) I use maybe a Tena Classic (really good buy!) or maybe and Abena PLUS (their lowest absorbency diaper...again a VERY good buy). For that short period, I don't want to throw out a $1.50 or so diaper that I have barely used.
See what I mean? My sister once asked why I had four or five different diapers in the closet and I explained the same to her. When she started figuring the cost of each she realized I was saving BIG bucks. Rather than throwing a $1.50+ diaper out every time, maybe the diaper I needed for an hour or two only cost me $0.89. I saved $0.61 by not using the heavy diaper that I really didn't need for that time period.
I hope this makes sense! :)
