In addition to incontinence, I have a brain injury and a hearing/balance disorder which together make me really dizzy; I walk like a drunk, and sometimes collapse for no reason apparent to by-standers. More recently I have developed a brain tumor, which my doctors have not yet decided how to treat. There is a distinct possibility that, even after surgery, I may wind up in a wheelchair full-time, instead of just part-time, now. This post is to solicit advice from Brian, and any others who spend lots of time in wheelchairs, about incontinence management for folks stuck in them. Does clothing need to be modified? Are the lightweight wheelchairs small enough to use in a standard bathroom? I guess I'll learn if I must, but I'll gladly accept any input that comes my way from folks whose experience gives them expertise. Thanks. Carl |
