Hi Lyle--
Most of the opportunities for playing acoustic music are in coffee-house settings, but there are also festivals and (as you mention) craft fairs, etc. Sometimes music will be an added attraction to other events, such as a "Relay for Life" at which we will be playing in June in San Dimas, CA.
There is no money to speak of in this type of music; many produce CDs of their music to sell at gigs, etc., but mostly you have to do it for love of doing it!
