Wood - Brass - Nickel - Tungsten Them's the ones I actually used. Started playing darts as a teenager growing up in North Eastern Pennsylvania. The ONLY game found there then as well as today is American Darts maybe known as "widdy darts" to those outside the NE part of the States. Dart bodies are made of wood. Photos of the board and darts used for this game and links about the game can be found in the November 2007 Newsletter. When introduced to steel tip darts in Seoul Korea I started using a set of hand-me-down brass darts from the "Mug Club" where I played. Since bought numerous sets including nickel and expensive tungsten mixes. Only one constant factor - I NEVER carry more than one set at a time. Seen them fancy multiple case dart carry things but have lost far too many sets in bars and taxis home on great darts nights where I may have had a bit too much to drink. Maybe a future question for the newsletter - How many drunken nights have you lost your favorite set of darts?

ANSWER: Dart barrels have been made from: Wood, Brass, Nickel/Silver and Tungsten (including Copper/Tungsten and Nickel/Tungsten). Well done Johnny. The strangest material ever suggested to make into darts was Spent Uranium (well, it was until Jayke reads this anyway). |
