Darts Quiz Question #23
In professional championship dart matches, what is the maximum period of time allowed between the throwing of an individual dart? (Only 3 more questions in this quiz!) |

Not a clue -- actually, I didn't realize there was a maximum time limit. It would seem pretty pointless to me as even for very slow players, like a Dennis Priestly, there must be a reasonable point after which slowing down the game also has a negative effect on their own game. Will be curious to learn the answer. |

I didn't think there was an actual time limit. Like Dartoid said, slowing a game down to hinder your opponent would only cause your actions to be put off. Gamesmanship is the hey word here. Don't leave us too long before you post the answer. I'm curious myself. |

I don't know the answer but I know why this rule came about. The dart powers that make the rules happened into Silver Dollar Bar one day and saw Ned playing darts. They immediately realized that if Ned ever made it to the top level of competition they wouldn't be able to afford to televise the match as it would require days. |

The rule may have come about in relation to televising tournaments -- in order to keep matches within a certain overall time limit. |

Wow, with a bit of concentrated effort, Ned may be able to work up to shooting at that fast a speed some day. |

Wow! That's amazing info. I wonder if any professional dart player has ever been penalized for taking longer than three minutes to throw one dart. How did the professional governing body of darts decide to allow three minutes per dart? I know Ned is one of the slowest players we know; but even he is nowhere near taking three minutes. One minute, tops. |

I would like to think that perhaps the timeframe is this long to allow for the repair of a damaged dart - not so you can play silly buggars at the oche. |
