Public meetings by the IJC Explained - Important
Just recieved an email newsletter from Curt Meddaugh from the Lake Ontario Trout & Salmon Association [LOTSA] encouraging fishermen & boaters to attend these following meetings. It is in regard to a IJC Plan B proposal that will affect water levels on Lake Ontario [& Niagara River and tribs.] which affects all of us users, Landowners, [Riparins] fishers, boaters, skiers, etc. It is important that all affected persons attend. You will get a good idea of how they can "tinker" with water levels and leave you high & dry or leave you drowning in high water. Scheduled meetings for our local area are listed below. The International Joint Commission will be holding two kinds of public meetings in the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River region. Information sessions: IJC staff will describe the proposed Order and Plan and answer questions. The public will not be expected to submit comments at this time. Public hearings: About two months later, the IJC commissioners themselves will travel to the same places to hold formal proceedings at which the public can make comments and presentations that enter into the official record of the Order review process.
