John Daniels has passed

Bill Hilts Sr. passed along the sad message that long time friend of the outdoors Mr. John T. Daniels passed away Tuesday April 29. Daniels was a friend of mine and we grew to be good friends way back when I had my fishing tackle store. [Mark’s Tackle, N. Falls] He was one of my earliest customers and one of the earliest to sign up and become a member of the Niagara Anglers. I can remember that.

John was an active member of the Niagara River Anglers Association and once served as the Anglers delegate to the Erie County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs plus other volunteer duties. John stayed abreast of outdoor activities for as long as I have known him. Up until the last few years John frequently attended NRAA meetings. He was also a highly active member of the local chapter of Ducks Unlimited.

You may have met John. He was the big tall guy you have seen at meetings and other gatherings. An impressive man. Recently he walked with a cane due to back problems.

Myself, and many others will sadly miss John Daniels for his knowledge, good judgment and humor. John lived in North Tonawanda with his wife Christine. He was 85
