The answer to the question: Who was the popular Iditarod check point named after? Rohn was named after a camp hand Oscar Rohn who was working with geologist Josiah Spurr in 1898. Josiah Spurr was heading up a geological expedition through the Alaska Range. Oscar Rohn was a skilled carpenter and could build or repair boats while floating various rivers, he was also, qualified to act as an assistant geologist and topographer. |
