Training
To day we trained the dogs on the dog walker and took them out on the 4-wheeler. The dogs love running in the rain and what a good cold shower can do for you. we also have been getting ready for the Alaska State Fair. I completed one of my projects for the fair. I enjoy making Dragon Cakes. My other projects are swine, they are about 250 pound and have a mind of there own. I also have rabbits and cavies. My dog team love to eat my poultry if they can get a hold of them. It's not on commend to come home to a poultry dinner in the making. Those dogs see my family or me coming, wish they would run like that all the time. My pigs run the whole yard including the dog team. The sled dogs move out of there way, even if the pigs are moving in to steal there dinner. My family and I are right behind them to make sure my market pigs and our dinner swine don't eat anything, but there own food. We are going to have a 4-H meeting next week end on Saturday. Everyone is getting sick with the flu or couldn't come to the meeting this weekend. We would love to hear from other Jr. mushers. The last meeting we learned to make lines, some of us who know how to make lines helped teach the other students and I had to make new lines, because last spring on the snow camping trip, one of my friend's puppy had lines for breakfast, lunch and dinner. She is a wonderful runner and will be racing this year. Without rope, but with cable. We also had to make cable lines along with rope lines for your educational class. I made a gangline for 5 dogs, so I can take it out on the snow camping trip this coming winter. I have made two sets of 5 dog ganglines, I find it easier to find two trees that are closer together, then two that can hold 10 dogs. This winter one of our trips, will be mushing out and camping at FlatHorn Lake, Then the next day mushing out to Yentna Station and back to Willow. We are scheduling a second trip that will be more challenging and for the more experienced mushers. I can't wait!!!! I hope it will be out of Fairbanks, maybe even close to a hot springs. I am just dreaming!! Will back to training dogs. I have more dogs to train this year, then last year. Have a good evening. Jonathan
