Seems a good time to pop in this entry. Robert actually came up with the idea of an after class meal a while ago.

We have to think of budget and taste.....

As it's a friday night, we will have to book most places.

In nearby Sproughton there is a carvery.

Then, on the outskirts of town there is a Punch and Judy where you get 2 meals for the price of one. It's basic fish and chips, lasagne, variety of pies, beautiful steaks, curries......it's basic but we enjoy it as a cheap night out. There's also a bar there.

There is an all you can eat chinese buffet bar in town, parking will cost and the meal will be around £13 a head without drinks - a very busy restaurant.

Just up the road from capel, in the next village is a pub that serves home made indian cuisine. it depends on what you want and how much you want to pay.

by the way, for those of you wanting to spend some time in colchester, bear in mind you will have to drive right by the site of john constable's haywain...it's only 5 miles up the road. pretty lavenham and kersey are other nice places to visit.

We'll eat just about anything, but the puch and judy sounds like a good idea, won't be drinking too much with having the car anyway.

I'll leave it with the rest of you to decide and we'll go with the flow.

What do think then Sue, table for about 8.30, and any early birds can meet in the bar prior to that? Or do you later? Session finishes at 6 doesn't it?

robert, a man who makes a decision and quick. 8.30 sounds good. punch and judy sounds good too. Punch and Judy do not take bookings.....so any early birds can have a drink (soft or hard) at the bar and book the rest of us in when they get there. like i said, it's basic but there's car parking right outside and the menue is varied. i can recommend their italian chicken and their steaks.

Ah, sorry about that, my work requires me to make quick decisions most of the time.

Just wanna say a big thanks to all who made it to the meal on friday night. it's the first time i've ever seen the mixed grill polished off. shame the huge double dessert had been taken off the menu - both myself and alan have tried this and were defeated by it. i think i can safely say it was a lovely end to a lovely day

Absolutely agree. It was so nice to meet you all, Sue had a really nice day too (a huge thanks to Kay) and I truly hope we'll be doing it again real soon.

Mum is now the proud owner of the poppy and rose piece ( Sue relented in the end), and I'm packed for my next jaunt. I didn't manage to get any photos, so Sue, if you have something I could post on my site I'd be very grateful.

Thanks for a great workshop I really enjoyed it hope the others went as well, the meal in the evening was a great success and it was great to meet all the people I have been conversing with on the web site.

Many thanks Stuart, just received the photos. They're great.
The other workshops went really well - all were great fun - and all produced some pretty amazing paintings too. The seascape went a little over time and the snowscape finished a little early.

In the bar at the end of day 3, we were enjoying a Tetleys and Darrell was saying that we always seem to meet such a lovely bunch of people at these classes. I think we all feel we've made more friends - painting together really is quite a warm bonding experience.

Only 7 months till the next set of workshops.............
