Re: Combined Private and Instrument Check Rides

All my current students are of age. But, if I did have someone so aggressive to take that plan, I'd definitely work with them to accomplish the goal.

I have two primary students now who plan to continue right into instrument training. I told one this morning that once he proves himself well on a solo cross country then he's welcome to fly as much solo cross country as he wishes.

Another instructor has a younger student of fifteen. He's a good learner, progressing quite well. His parents are allowing him to fly once a week so by the time he's seventeen, he should be well prepared for both rides.

For some, it may be too much. But, there are other students doing very well and more than capable. The only downside is instrument XC training cannot be counted toward PIC XC as long as they do not hold a private ticket.
