Re: Looking for Info On Cader Stephens Priviate in the Ga. 9th Infantry Volunteers Company H

Cader R. Stephens was the son of Cader Stephens and Lavina Ham. He was born in 1837 and died January 26,1862 in Manassas,Va.

His father Cader was also drafted into the Confederate Army at the age of 58 and surprisingly considering his age lived through the war as was found living back in Brooks County,Ga in 1870.

I found this info on Ancestry.com about the elder Cader Stephens

" Governor Brown of Ga. called out the Brooks County Militia to aid in the defense of Macon and
Atlanta. A 58 year old Cader Stephens was among the "...Old men and boys...without training...put into battle a few days after leaving home." ( Pg. 127 History of Brooks County 1861-1865)
