Welcome to the Civil War in the Trans-Mississippi! This is a place where all who share an interest in the Civil War fought west of the Mississippi River can gather to ask questions, share information, and announce news.
I am hoping someone can help me with a question about the 4th Iowa Cavalry. Does anyone have a copy of the book THE STORY OF A CAVALRY REGIMENT, THE CAREER OF THE FOURTH IOWA VETRAN VOLUNTEERS FROM KANSAS TO GEORGIA 1861-1865 by William S. Forse. I am researching the skirmish at Hill's Plantation northeast of Vicksburg on June 22, 1863 during the Vicksburg Campaign, and I was wondering if this history mentions the fight. If I does I will buy a copy of the book.
I apologize for the delay in getting back with you. I was able to chekc my copy of "Story of a Cavalry Regiment" and found that the Hill's Plantation episode is recorded in the book starting on page 101. Hope this helps. Again, I apologize about the delay.
