Welcome to the Civil War in the Trans-Mississippi! This is a place where all who share an interest in the Civil War fought west of the Mississippi River can gather to ask questions, share information, and announce news.
I am trying to find some information (age, place of enrollment, hometown, etc.) about George Fox of the 32nd Iowa Infantry Regiment. He was mortally wounded on the Little Red River in Arkansas in 1863. We are going to include a photograph of him in a traveling exhibit for the CW Sesquicentennial. Thanks for any assistance!
You can see Fox's photo on the flash gallery at http://www.arkansascivilwar150.com/.
According to the Iowa Roster and Record (vol 5, p. 56) George Fox was born in Vermont in 1842, lived in Bonesborough (Boonesboro), Iowa, enlisted Sept. 20, 1862, mustered October 6, 1862 at Camp Franklin, Dubuque, Iowa, KIA August 14, 1863 at West Point, Little Red River, Arksansas.
