I am looking for letters, diaries, journals, newspaper articles, and reminiscences by soldiers and officers from the following Iowa units for the period of the Vicksburg Siege, May 20-July 4, 1863:

3rd Iowa Infantry, 4th Division, XVI Army Corps.

24th and 28th Iowa Infantry, 12th Division, XIII Army Corps.

Hope this helps. I plan to visit this library this summer to view these letters and get copies of them for my historical context research on what might have happened during this period with my great granduncle, Samuel Friend who served in Capt. Myers unit before he died after the Vicksburg siege.
