I am looking for information on the 21st Iowa Infantry. I would like to know what battles they fought, and where they fought through-out the war. My 2nd gr. grandfather was in Co. D of the 21st Iowa. Thankyou Carol

Hi Carol,
I have been transcribing a large group of letters written by 2nd Lt. Gilbert Cooley of Company D, 21st Iowa. He mentions many of the men in the company, what they are doing in camp, when they went on furlough or into hospital.
If you send his name, I will look for mention of him.
