The live-action movie and the new comics are getting some rough comments, because they are different. But remember, this is someones hard work, and why would anyone want to join onto a project if they couldn't add anything of their own?
I'd love a continuation of the 80's cartoon, but I also very much welcome new interpretations. There's room for both. And what I've seen so far rocks, in my opinion!
I don't agree with the reasons you mentioned to resort to such wording. I don't think having an overweight or lesbian character makes something cr**. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but think I'd listen more if you explained what you meant.
You probably didn't mean to come across so strongly. But let's keep it a bit nicer, okay? :)
I agree. I didn't care for the comic either. I HATE how they changed the reason why she becomes Jem. Also I don't like how they changed the originality of the characters. I felt that Jem was already a very diverse cartoon for its time. I respect and appreciate the sentiment about them making it even more diverse, but make a NEW character. Don't change the originality of the characters.
Thank you☺️☺️☺️☺️ I was thinking the same exact thing.
I agree 100% I understand they wanted to modernize the cartoon, but there was no need to change the racial and gender preferences of the characters.
I think the comics are awful too but not for those reasons.
The Jem characters are young women, the comic characters act like entitled millenials. There's too much "aren't they fun and quirky girls!!!" going on. Though I get that's the demographic they're aiming for and this is part of making a "modern update". It doesn't sit well for me.
Also there's so many references to other works, once in a while is fine but its creeping into unoriginal territory.
I also hate the art. The Misfits especially.
