Rick Baird Shoots The Third Ever Perfect Game In The History Of The PPA! 9 April 2011 - Richmond, VA - Putt-Putt founder Don Clayton built the first Putt-Putt course in Fayetteville, NC in 1954. He put on the first ever tournament the following year and held the first National tournament in 1957. He formed the Putt-Putt Professional Golfers Association (PPPGA) in 1959 which was renamed a year later to the Professional Putters Association. Millions of rounds have been played with player's ultimate goal to shoot a perfect score of 18.
On October 23rd, 1973, perfection was achieved by Warren Morris who shot the first ever 18 in a local tournament in Orlando, Florida. On May 23rd, 1979, John Napoli fired the second ever 18 in a local tournament in Columbus, Ohio. Almost 32 years have passed and 18 players have come close since then to perfection only to fall 1 stroke short. Would anyone ever do it again?
That question was answered today. 2007 PPA National Champion Rick Baird of Charlotte, NC stepped up to hole 18 during the second round of the Virginia PPA State event on Course #3 in Richmond, Virginia already with 17 aces on his scorecard with a chance at perfection. As other players got word of what potentially was about to happen, players stepped away from their holes to watch. He lined up his putt to get ready to pull the trigger and stepped away. The nervousness of the moment was getting to the 53 year old from Charlotte, North Carolina who turned professional in 1984. He had to step away to compose himself for a few moments, then returned to the tee and once again lined up his putt. His putt was hit straight and true and found the bottom of the cup. The gallery erupted in applause. Many players came up to congratulate Baird on his round. The Professional Putters Association and the Southwest Putting Tour congratulate Rick Baird on his accomplishment. Rick will be 1 of 70 players competing in Memphis this weekend at the Western Open.

Rumor has it there were 2 pro's and 5 am's in Norman on Saturday. Don't know anything about Sunday in Lawton, but I'm betting no one showed up with the wind as bad as it was. I was told that Enders won on Saturday and I think Danny beat Steve Armstrong.

Regarding spots, it doesn't sound like OK players have much fun to play for. Sounds like it is run by a dictator instead of a committee. Come play on the Texas "southwest putting tour". You really have to earn them down here. Yeah silly name being all courses but Lake Charles (Memphis this year) played each season are in Texas.
