Came by for my second time early november. This time started from swannee side. Saw a huge doe at about 6000' area on up side, fantastic, need to mount camera on dash board for quick access.
I have a question, when you reach cerra gordo from swannee side (or any side)how do I find the road to lee flats. Is it that gate above the swannee entrance road which has been lock both times? I drove up that road that goes above the town but they 2 lanes kept running out.Cecil I want your life. It's not a job when you're having fun!

Please note that Cerro Gordo owner, Mike Patterson is back up on the mountain handling things now. He also has the official Cerro Gordo website up and running. www.cerrogordo.us
You can find out info about visiting the town there.

I used to travel through Cerro Gordo frequently. My father Al Bostrom and his partner Charley Stanley had a mine on the Eastern side of the Inyo's about 5 miles past Cerro Gordo. Does anyone out there have any information about Ed Thistlethwaite the packer/painter?

Sold my property in Orange County, recently. Bought a home in Trona. My 75 year old friend Al organized a treasure expedition seeking the silver lost in Owens Lake. I intend to treat Al to a night or two at the Cerro Gordo hotel.

I first visisted Cerro Gordo In 1969 as a young boy. I climbed around the southwest side of mountain opposite Cerro Gordo Pk. and I discovered an old graveyard of sorts with one tombstone that was that of a little girl that read: Lest we Forget. Is it still there? Thank god that someone is watching over this beautiful place. Jeff Dugas
